DR. F. GEORGE NJOROGE: DRUG DISCOVERY RESEARCH

Dr. F. George Njoroge is a Senior Research Fellow at Eli Lilly and Company. He led the research in the discovery and approval of hepatitis C drug Victrelis™ (BOCEPREVIR®) during his past stint at Merck Pharmaceuticals.  For his efforts, Dr. Njoroge was named Hero of Chemistry by the American Chemical Society in 2012.

He is the first African to be granted more than 100 patents by the US Patent Office. Dr. Njoroge graduated from the University of Nairobi, with a degree in Chemistry (first class honors). He obtained his Masters and PhD degrees in Chemistry from Case Western University, USA.
