Binyavanga Wainaina is the author of One Day I Will Write About This Place: A Memoir,  that was named a 2011 New York Times notable book. He is also the author of How to Write About Africa.

Perhaps most importantly, Binyavanga is founding editor of Kwani?. Since its founding in 2003, Kwani? has become an influential African literary magazine and platform that is helping nurture and introduce young up-and-coming creative African writers to the world.

He was included in TIME’s magazine 2014 TIME 100 list.
